Abstract:	Elvirol methyl ether has been synthesized from p-cresol via 2-(2-cyclopentenyl)-4-methylphenyl methyl ether by ozonolysis, dithioacetalization, reduction, and Wittig reaction. The overall yield was 18.8%.
