dc.description.abstractIt’s necessary to optimize the viewing angle characteristics of a pi-cell in order to operate in OCB (Optically Compensated Bend) mode with a response time ten times faster than that of TN mode employed. We employed different compensation structures on OCB mode in order to understand the detailed optical properties of OCB and establish a database for design. With a proper optical characteristics, the OCB could become an outstanding liquid-crystal mode for video display applications.en_US
